3DW was commissioned by Opito to develop a VR game called "My Future Energy Park" to be used in the UAE at a major skills conference.
As a global leader in energy skills and safety standards, Opito required an engaging immersive platform to educate the next generation about the evolving energy landscape and the diverse career opportunities within the sector.
The project involved creating a highly detailed virtual environment where users can explore different energy scenarios in a gamified format.
3DW came on board to build the game in Unity which is a high level game engine designed for AAA games. The game had a pretty simple premise, move around the environments and collect tokens which translated into a final score at the end with some learning information about each sector when time was up.
To ensure the game is accessible across various settings from large-scale career fairs to classroom environments 3DW integrated multiple platform optimisation. This allows the software to seamlessly switch between a full Virtual Reality (VR) headset experience and a standard desktop version.
In addition to the core gameplay mechanics, the game provided a visually stunning representation of a future energy park, blending entertainment with curriculum-aligned learning. By allowing users to "step into" the future of energy, the application makes complex concepts like grid stability and renewable integration tangible and exciting for a younger audience.
The "My Future Energy Park" game added significant value to Opito’s stand at the conference, providing a standout interactive tool that captured attention in a way traditional media cannot. By combining 3DW’s excellent technical ability with game-design principles, we helped Opito create a memorable educational experience that inspires interest in the energy transition and the vital roles required to achieve it.
