Hinkley Point C is a new nuclear power station currently in construction next to the existing Hinkley Point A & B sites with the A site currently being decommissioned. The site is approximately 5 miles from Bridgwater in Somerset.

We built an initial 3D model for the project at a very early stage and since then it has evolved into a large 3D solution which includes plans for the new power station as well as the supporting infrastructure and proposed landscaping. The site was chosen because it is close to the existing nuclear power stations, it is close to the national grid's high voltage electricity transmission systems and the ability to use existing road access to the site.

EDF have faced the task of being able to successfully communicate the plans to local residents and businesses and to present the visual impact of the development as seen from various locations.

Our solution was to create a fully interactive 3D model of the entire area which would include the old and new power station site, accommodation campuses for workers, freight handling & logistics facilities, park and ride sites and a new bypass. To accompany the interactive model, several video fly-throughs of the developments were also produced.

We created an extensive set of still images which featured in the supporting documentation submitted by EDF to the planning authorities.
