I am Steven McMillan, Project Manager for this project. My role is to oversee the development stage, primarily focusing on carrying out surveys and preparing preliminary designs to support the development of options, the selection of preferred options and the preparation of planning applications for consent approvals. I work with the project team to deliver to an agreed programme and to prepare key deliverables to support the development process.
Sharon Powell - Community Liaison Manager
Hi there, I'm Sharon Powell and I am the Community Liaison Manager for the Shetland Renewable Connections Project. My role is to engage, communicate and coordinate activities between SSEN Transmission and the community, hosting and attending community meetings. These meetings give community members and stakeholders the opportunity to provide feedback on SSEN projects which helps inform and improve our project as it develops.
Jim MacMillan - Lead Land Manager
Hello, my name is Jim MacMillan and I’m the Land Manager for the Shetland Renewables Connection Project. My role within the project team is to liaise with landowners and tenants affected by the routes of overhead lines and underground cables, to establish suitable access routes and prepare wayleave agreements.
Jean Gaillard - Lead Land Manager
Hello, my name is Jean Gaillard and I’m the Lead Land Manager for the Shetland Renewable Connections Projects. My role within the team is to ensure that we identify and engage with the landowners and tenants who are directly affected by these projects. It is also to ensure that we limit our impact on their land use activities where possible, and that where this isn’t possible to ensure that landowners and tenants are properly and fairly compensated.
Mairi Rigby – Consents and Environment Manager
Hi there, I’m Mairi and I’m the Consents and Environment manager for the project. My role is to provide leadership in onshore environmental aspects of the project. I ensure that environmental considerations and constraints are appraised at every step in project development. I manage specialist environmental consultants to undertake surveys and prepare detailed environmental assessments. I work with Tommy Hart to prepare applications for planning consent and Section 37 consents for the project also, and to deliver any consent conditions.
Nick Moore - Marine Consents Manager
Hello, my name is Nick Moore, I am the Marine Consents Manager for the Shetland Renewable Connections Project. My role within the team is to ensure marine environmental issues, constraints and other sea users are identified, assessed and taken into full consideration as the project progresses. I also manage specialist Marine Environmental Consultants that undertake the Marine EA, and associated assessments on behalf of SHE Transmission when required.
Tommy Hart - Town Planning Specialist
Hi, I'm Tommy Hart and I’m the Town Planning Specialist for the Shetland Renewable Connections Project. My role is to provide lead on the terrestrial consenting for the project, that being the s37 consents for the OHL and the planning consent for the Yell Switching Station. I work closely with the Mairi to deliver these consents by ensuring that we have chosen the correct route and alignment of the OHL, as well as the best location for the Switching Station, taking into account the natural environment of the area.
Wayne Thomson – Lead Overhead Line (OHL) Engineer
Hello, my name is Wayne Thomson, I am the Lead Overhead Line (OHL) engineer for the Shetland Renewable Connections project. My role is to lead the OHL design through the development and delivery of the projects, ensuring engineering issues are identified, assessed and taken into consideration as the project progresses.
